Port Edwards Paper Mill to Shut Down in 2008
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/14/2007
Domtar Papers will close its Port Edwards paper mill in the next few months. Material costs, energy expenses and proximity to markets are factors in the decision to shutdown--which currently employees over 500 workers.
The facility makes uncoated free sheet paper, typically used in office settings for annual reports and business communication. It produces about 163,000 tons of paper annually on three paper machines.
Domtar purchased the Port Edwards mill in 2001 from Georgia-Pacific.
